Treasured Moments

Treasured moments are moments that bring smile to our face, a tear to our eyes and a vibration in our heart.

They are special and unforgettable.

We treasured every moment because they bring back the memory of a loved one and a lesson learned in life (take note: a lesson learned).

They are not meant to be hidden or buried, rather they are to be remembered and revived,  to be experience again and again  for they are influential source of strength, guidance, inspiration, and hope as we journey through life.

Its 8pm, and I’m still seated in my office, thinking about the best moments I have had with loved ones. Sometimes we get so busy thinking about the future that we fail to live in the present. I realized that looking back at where I was as only helped me in appreciating my present and giving me hope for the future

I have had friends who came into my life and beautified it; some who just by giving me a gift of their time transformed my life. When I think of the many late night walks I had while I was in the university, and the moments shared with my few co-walkers, I can’t help but appreciate my past. Yes, sometimes we need to appreciate our past. Those were some beautiful night under the shining stars and the tiny droplet of dew from heaven.
"You don't bring me flowers anymore.."

This line from a song was playing on the radio during my lonesome moment.

While listening to this song, it reminds me how life has treated me 'till this very day. It was my lonesome moment, and an outburst of emotion has got me almost fainted.

I thank God that during those moments of sadness,

when I was so down and tired in my journey,
He has given me a helping hand,
in a form of a stranger... a friend.

A friend who listens instead of judging.

A stranger, whom I considered my light in shining armour.
It was a moment, a treasured moment... with a treasured friend.

Getting back to the song...
It was a gentle reminder for me to go back to my real self, to my identity and my mission in this life.

This is the moment!

I must live each moment as if my hair is on fire!

Live in the moment and make it so beautiful that it would be worth remembering

TRUST God even when you can't TRACE him

I have often wondered how  i got to where I am today. You see, It can be really scary when you have absolutely no clue of what the future holds for you or maybe when you think of the many obstacles that awaits you on your journey.

For me, the lines has been falling in pleasant places. Just when I thought I had it all figured out God just comes with his own plan and he's is always better.

I have learnt to trust God even when I can't trace him. I believe that everything I would ever be has already been orchestrated by him. However, that doesn't mean I sit, and fold my hands and expect everything to fall in place. Infact, Your decisions decides your destiny; everything you would ever be tomorrow is dependent on the decisions you make today.

As you Journey through life, you must learn to trust God. You must understand that his plans for your life are always the best. Sometimes his plans leaves you uncomfortable, but all things works for the betterment of those that trust him.

Be careful not to measure yourself with others..We all have a different path in life. John's path may not be peter's path. Therefore, just because others are succeeding doesn't mean you are failing. You must be careful to remain in the confinement of your purpose and not try to live outside of your calling.

While you may not know what the future holds, why not trust the one who holds your future? He knows best. So embrace yourself and live in the moment. Plan but always give room for God's plan..

Your Assosciates

A story is told of a man who found an eagle’s egg. He put it with his chickens and the mother hens. Soon the egg hatched. The young eagle grew up with all the other chickens. Whatever the chickens did, the eagle also did. He thought he was a chicken, just like them.

Since the chickens could only fly for a short distance, the eagle also learnt to fly a short distance. He thought that was what he was supposed to do. So that was all that he thought he could do. And that was all he was able to do. One day, while they went to the river side, the eagle saw a bird flying high above him. He was very impressed. “Who is that?” he asked the hens around him. “That’s the eagle, the king of the birds,” the hens told him. “He belongs to the sky. We belong to the earth – we are chickens. Immediately the eagle gazed into the river and saw his reflection, nothing different from what had just flown above her; same wings, same claws, and same eyes. All this while, the eagle had lived like the chicken without realizing he was suppose to be flying and not walking.

Realizing she could do much more than what she had been accustomed to, she decided to separate herself from the chickens and began learning how to fly. Although while trying to fly, she failed on several attempts, but with much perseverance and practice, she eventually soared higher, far above the chickens.
Just like the eagle, everything you are today is linked directly to the people you’ve surrounded yourself with. Association is so powerful such that it determines how far you go in life. You cannot grow more than the people you surround yourself with. You don’t expect to think and grow rich by surrounding yourself with people who think poor. At some point in your life, you must decide who you want to keep and who you want to kiss good bye to.

Imagine someone who aspires to become a musician in the future but surrounds herself with people who are of law profession. For such a person, achieving her dream becomes only a dream- nowhere near reality. Occasionally, you must examine the people in your life. Not that you are better off than them, but for where you are going, you need to walk with the right people- people who fan the flame of purpose within you.
I always tell people, before getting into any relationship, make sure the person you are going into relationship believes in your vision. Why is this important? Associating with someone who doesn’t believe in your vision would deter you from achieving your vision. Someone who wants to become a pastor doesn’t want to get married to lady who would club all night on Saturday and not make it to church on Sunday. Character is everything. Quality and not quantity is what we should look out for. The quality of the people around you determines the quality of life you would have.

Knowing that evil communication corrupts good manner, choose to walk with people who only contributes positively to your life and bring you closer to goal.

INSIDE-OUT

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
----Mother Theresa

The above quote by Mother Theresa clearly describes a life without real fulfillment.  Of what use is life if after all your education, awards, money, and relationships yet you have no real fulfillment- no lasting impact. Never make the mistake to attach success to the externals. Success is living INSIDE-OUT; inner working for an outside expression. I want to make my world a better place. I want to touch lives even in the smallest of ways. I want to fulfill God given destiny for my life. I want to walk this earth living footprints where ever the sole of my feet treads upon. I want to make a difference no matter how little. I don’t want to live for myself alone.

What can be more painful than a wasted life; a life that was always in motion but no work done?  To LIVE is the rarest thing in the world. Most people only EXIST. Yes you were born some 20 something years ago or maybe 30 something years ago; Fine, good age! But what are you LIVING for?  For what reason were you born? What difference are you making? Have you discovered your purpose yet- the reason for which you were created? The real tragedy isn’t death; the real tragedy is what dies inside of you while you live.

How many people at their death bed regret for not taking the opportunities they had to live, to have adventure and experiences? There’s nothing better than to look back your past and be able to say; “I lived and lived very well. I made mistakes and I learned from them and moved on.” Sadly, people have defined success by the things money can buy. They feel an individual is successful only if he is very wealthy or happens to be very famous. Isn’t that what all them Forbes and Times magazine has made people to believe? You see a list of individuals who are recognized as the richest people in the world. My friend in her blog points out that this list only remind people that you are not a ‘somebody’ until you are on the list. And I totally agree with her.  The true perfection of a man lies not on what man has but on what man is. Of what use is life if your public successes fail to compensate for your private failures?

I have this sneaky little feeling that maybe, life would be better off once we begin to place more value on what we are rather than on what we have. It is imperative we understand that it is what we are that produces what we have. We live from the INSIDE-OUT. Having said this, I can then say success is what you attract because of who have become and not what you are running after.

I believe that everyone God created has something unique inside of them. God has placed in you a story that needs to be told. Endowed in you are enormous potentials that need to be unleashed. However, it is your responsibility to identify the gifts in you and use them. Don’t live another day of your life without making a difference.  Encourage someone; rather than condemning people, tell them how good they look. Give alms to those in need. Look into your wardrobe and bring out those clothes you no longer use and give them out. There is this very good friend of mine that feeds the hungry every month. She goes to a restaurant and buys like 60 packs of food and distribute to kids along the streets of Yola. I have gone with her twice or so, and I see how these kids smile while they eat. It is so touching. In her own little way, she’s making a difference by feeding the hungry.

I want to encourage you to live a life worth remembering.  In the words of Martin Luther King, “if you’ve not discovered what you can die for then you are not fit live. Live for something bigger than you. Wake up every morning and be excited about the impacts you are going to make for that day. The deepest need of the heart is self transcendence. Don’t walk the planet in vein. Leave an impact as you go through your day. Regardless of whom you are or your background, you have a story to tell. Never allow your background keep your back on the ground. Don’t get to the end of life and realize that you still have untold story inside you.

Don’t only EXIST. LIVE. Live from the INSIDE-OUT

PRESS RELEASE FOR NIGERIA RADIO AWARDS (NiRA)

Communication has over the years, come to play such an important role in the society that it has come to be regarded as the very plank upon which learning, cultural exchange, trade and many other socio and econo-political relations are hoisted. We have identified radio as our commonest and cheapest means of communication, which can reach and permeate all strata of society, in spite of class, tongue or belief.

With the goal to promote radio, encourage excellence in the medium and ensure that radio remains the first choice for marketers, we present to you Nigeria Radio Awards (NiRA).

With radio still at the forefront of media sources utilized by many Nigerians to garner information and to interact with the world, the Nigeria Radio AwardProject seeks to motivate and recognize radio stations and organizations to constantly raise the bar in terms of their performance and general service optimization, with a firm focus on keeping their audience engaged and happy, by instilling in these stations and individuals a sense of healthy competition that would be geared towards quality enhancement in their service outputs, whether in terms of News, Education or Entertainment.

We have chosen to carry out this recognition through honoring Nigeria’s outstanding radio talent, from in-front-of-the-mic presenters to behind-the-scene producers. By doing so, we hope to inspire people wishing to enter this dynamic industry to adequately prepare themselves for the arduous task of quality broadcasting.

This first edition, as, indeed, other subsequent editions, of the Nigeria Radio Awards shall
aim at presenting a credible, well-judged, transparent programme that promotes and recognizes excellence in radio, especially, with the objective of ensuring that radio remains one of Nigeria’s foremost media choices. Everything shall be about rewarding those individuals and stations who combine talent, hard work and skill to ensure that their listeners are compelled to pay attention whenever they are on air.

It’s our desire to see radio stations produce a more involved, relevant and valuable content and the need to understand the consumer and deliver the services. We also feel that clients and marketers want more measurability and opportunity to connect with people in a unique space. Therefore, Nigeria Radio Awards (NiRA) seeks to promote the idea that the radio industry needs to continually reinvent and take itself more seriously.
